The Corrections bureau maintains a 24-hour secure correctional environment that adequately detains criminal offenders and maintains programs to enhance the success of offenders’ reentry into society. The DuPage County Correctional Center is comprised of two adjacent buildings totaling 430,00 square feet and has a total housing capacity of 997 inmates. Deputies are tasked with overseeing daily activities in the corrections facility, keep order by enforcing strict rules and regulations, observe inmate behavior, escorting and transporting inmates, conducting cell checks and searches, delivering personal items and meals, controlling inmate and visitor movement throughout the facility, as well as many other security functions.

The Sheriff’s Office provides security for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court and more than 1.3 million people who enter it each year. The courthouse has 47 courtrooms and hears almost 150,000 cases a year. These deputies protect the integrity of court procedures, sustain the rights of individuals before the courts, deter those who may take violent action against the court facility or its occupants, and maintain decorum of the court.

The Law Enforcement bureau provides 24-hour police services to the unincorporated areas of DuPage County. The county is 336 square mile with around 104,000 residents in the unincorporated areas. Three patrol shifts ensure continuous patrol coverage of the county. 12-hour shifts are arranged to overlap during peak activity times. Law Enforcement functions may include crime prevention, response to calls for service, traffic law offender apprehension, evidence collection and preservation, domestic violence intervention, mediation, criminal investigations, civil process service, court testimony and trial preparation.
